Herbal Medicine in Hackney, East London
Personalised herbal medicine consultations that treat the person, not the disease — getting to the root of what your body is asking for.
At Wholeness, herbal medicine is not about prescribing a herb for a symptom. It's about understanding you — your history, your constitution, your lifestyle, your patterns — and creating a treatment that is entirely yours.
A whole-person approach to natural healing
Many people who come to me have been struggling with the same thing for a long time. They've seen doctors, tried different approaches, and still don't feel well. What herbal medicine offers is time, depth, and a different kind of attention — one that looks at the whole picture rather than isolating a single symptom.
I use Traditional Western Herbal Medicine, enriched with principles from Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine, alongside modern naturopathic assessment tools including iridology. Every prescription is made from scratch, blended in-house at the Wholeness dispensary, and tailored to exactly what your body needs at this point in time.
What happens in a herbal medicine consultation
Your first appointment is an in-depth conversation — usually 60 to 90 minutes — that covers everything relevant to your health.
We'll talk about why you're here and what you want support with.
Then we'll work through a comprehensive health history covering your nervous system, cardiovascular and respiratory health, digestion, sleep, energy, hormones, skin, and immunity. We'll also talk about how you move, how you eat, your family health history, and how you feel day to day.
At the end of every initial consultation I carry out a short iridology reading. The iris carries information about your constitution — your innate strengths, the systems that may need support, and how your body tends to respond to stress. This helps me refine your treatment protocol with greater precision.
After your appointment, you'll receive a written protocol including naturopathic and dietary recommendations, lifestyle guidance, and your personalised herbal prescription.
What's included in the consultation fee:
The full consultation (up to 90 minutes)
Iridology reading
Written naturopathic and lifestyle protocol
— Personalised herbal prescription
Note: Your herbal medicine (tinctures, teas, powders, or topical remedies) is prepared and dispensed separately and is not included in the consultation fee. Costs vary depending on your prescription — typically £45–£85 per month.
Follow-up consultations
Herbal medicine works best as an ongoing relationship.
Follow-up appointments allow us to review your progress, adjust your protocol, and refine your prescription as your body responds and your needs shift.
Follow-ups are typically 45–60 minutes and are recommended every 4–8 weeks depending on your condition and treatment plan.
Who herbal medicine is for
Herbal medicine can support both acute concerns and long-term chronic conditions.
I work with clients at all stages of life — from adolescence through to post-menopause — and take into account not just your physical symptoms but your emotional landscape, your constitution, and the context of your life.

Frequently asked questions
-
In most cases yes, but this is something we assess carefully. Some herbs interact with medications, and I will always review your current prescriptions before making any recommendations. Please list all medications in your pre-consultation form when booking, or bring details during your consultation.
-
This varies depending on your condition and how long you've been experiencing it. Acute issues can respond within days to weeks. Chronic conditions typically need 2–3 months of consistent treatment to see meaningful change, though some cases may be longer. I'll be honest with you about realistic timelines at your consultation.
-
Your bespoke herbal prescription is prepared in-house and costs between £45 and £85 per month depending on the complexity of your protocol. This is separate from the consultation fee.
-
No. You can book directly without a referral. If you're currently under the care of a GP or specialist, I'll always work alongside your existing care rather than in opposition to it.
